Великая Отечественная война 1941-1945 гг. - это еще одна трагическая страница в истории Крыма. Крым стал ареной ожесточенных боев с фашистами на суше, в воздухе и на море. В начале ноября 1941 г. было оккупировано крымское Южнобережье, захвачен Симферополь, 250 дней длилась героическая оборона Севастополя. Грозное дыхание войны коснулось практически каждой семьи. Несмотря на то, что на Советский Союз, в который входил и Крым, была обрушена вся мощь германской армии, великая страна победила. И в эту победу значительный вклад внесли банковские работники, в том числе и Крымской конторы Госбанка СССР. Они участвовали в сражениях с фашистами, шли добровольцами на фронт, в эвакуации работали в банках, обеспечивая финансирование тыла и армии, в тяжелых условиях походной жизни работали в полевых учреждениях Госбанка. В неимоверно трудных условиях, рискуя жизнью, они спасали и сохраняли государственные ценности, оказавшиеся на оккупированной вражеской территории. Многие из них отдали свою жизнь за освобождение Родины.

The Financial Competence of Russians: Results of an International Comparative Investigation

The main purpose of the study is to assess the level of financial literacy of Russians by using the methodology of cross country comparison developed under the Russia Financial Literacy and Education Trust Fund. The data were collected during the all-Russian survey in October 2014 (N = 1629 respondents). The paper gives a brief description of the methodology, as well as a comparison of the level of financial capability of Russians with similar estimates obtained in the surveys in such countries as Armenia, Colombia, Lebanon, Morocco, Mexico, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Uruguay.

The Regulation of Interest Rates on Deposits (The Example of the Chinese Banking System)

The regulation of interest rates is one of the most common instruments for promoting banking system stability. The paper discusses the main effects of the binding level of maximum deposit rates in China, including the development of the shadow banking system. Liberalization of rates coupled with the introduction of the mandatory deposit insurance and access of new entrants to the market could lead to an intensification of price competition and destabilization of the banking system.

The System of Deposit Insurance and Its Influence on the Risks Assumed by Russian Banks

This paper examines how deposit insurance systems affect the degree of market discipline on bank’s risk-taking. The author uses a rich panel dataset on banks in Russia (including subgroups of big, mainly state owned, banks and small privately owned banks) with covering the period after the introduction of the deposit insurance scheme and different variables to assess risk. The findings suggest that the relationship between bank’s risk taking and deposit insurance coverage can be described as U-shaped as hypothesized. The analysis of the impact of the bank’s size indicates that large banks are associated with moderate risk-taking after the implementation of deposit insurance system.
