Alexander Ilyich Siloti (1863-1945) - the famous musician: pianist and conductor, teacher, actor-educator, organizer of the concert life, musical-public figure. Enterprise «Concerts A. Siloti» was one of the leading concerts in Russia the first two decades of the twentieth century and had a significant influence on the development of musical culture of Russia. The aim of the concerts was to educate the general public. For this purpose, defines different types of concerts, the content interesting and artistic and meaningful programs, invited well-known performers - soloists and conductors. In the article presented the basic principles of creation of the programs of the concert organization of A.I. Siloti - a genre and style variety, the relation to monographic concerts and others - formulated on the basis by reviews his contemporaries, Siloti’s letters, the analysis of repertoire policy of an enterprise of Siloti.

The article reviews an experience of improve relations between the balalaika concert orchestra performing and classical Russian music of the early twentieth century. The Great Russian orchestra of Vasily Andreev was a bright original collective, which was formed at the turn of the century. There were three events in the history of the Great Russian Orchestra occurred in the same period and associated with the creation by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Glazunov. The author concludes that the principles of the symphony were not an organic feature of the Great Russian Orchestra, as well as the instruments of the Great Russian Orchestra could not become the part of the symphony orchestra. The attempts to introduce the balalaikas in a different musical area were unsuccessful. The new balalaika concert performing was an original, unique and independent phenomenon.

This paper is devoted to the auto-da-fé scene from «Don Carlos», which is a 3-th act finale of the opera. Special attention is given to the historical aspect, namely to the opera creation story and to the auto-da-fé scene incorporation reasons. By the analyses of art and documentary sources which are considered in foreign researches author gave a new version of auto-da-fé scene literary source. Also the original prose script of this scene is represented for the first time in Russian-language Verdian studies.

The article is devoted to the problem of the relationship between words and music in a cycle of Shostakovich «10 choral poems». In this perspective, the possibility of the detection of the hidden meaning of the music, written in the years of Stalinist repression.The work presents little-known aspects of the history of creation of work. It appears that initially, the cycle was conceived as a composition that includes 8 instead of 10 numbers. The last two numbers were added after the show Shostakovich cycle fellow composers who subjected him to harsh criticism. The identified рarallels with the story of the creation cycle «From Jewish folk Poetry».The article describes the methods of the composer with the literary text and considers the characteristics of interpretation, texture, the genre and the characteristics of the main rooms, originally amounting to cycle.

The article is devoted to the study of traditional lyric songs of the Smolensk region. In the traditional musical culture of the region lyrical songs is one of the key positions. The widespread existence and the quantitative composition in the repertoire of performers testify to their root status in the local ethnomusicological system along with calendar and wedding song cycles. The article discusses the two subspecies of the genre of lyric songs is seasonally timed and not timed. Their study aimed at establishing the General and specific features inherent to each of the subgroups. The main part of the article is devoted to the characteristic features of the music of the songs with the position of the rhythmic and pitch structure. Special attention is paid to the issue of the holistic view of traditional song lyric of the Smolensk region.

The purpose of the analysis of vocal and instrumental opuses «Liturgy», «Distorted reports» and «Duodramen», determine the degree of correlation becomes verbal texts, their conflict and conflict-mapping within a single work, a combination of music as a whole. Texts or polysemous, that is devoted to different events («Distorted posts»), or odnosemantichny, that is focused on the expression of one topic (religious subjects in the «Liturgy» and the love theme in «Duodramen»).
