Staginess of scenic versions of theatre is combined with intonational activity of execution and defines individual style of interpretation by theatre of the opera text.

The main subject of the paper is Mikhail Glinka's treatment of the poem «Ruslan and Lyudmila» by Alexandr Pushkin. Comparing the text of the poem and the text of the libretto, the author tries to consider Glinka's opera as the phenomenon of European opera.
