In the focus of attention of this small study - an attempt to define the time of the creation of ritual songs “The River”, accompanying the wedding of the brideorphans. In the text of this song, there is the motive of the awakening of the deceased parent by blowing to the Church bell. By studying the approach of a bell-strike and architectural type of the Church building, where to hang the bell, the author came to the conclusion about the origin of the song “The River” not earlier than the 18th cent., when the Church with a high belfry above the porch took place as the prevailing type of the Church building in the Russia.

The article considers technology of composition in the choral works of Tian Feng, one of the representatives of the Beijing school of composition. The detailed analysis of scale, tonal-harmonic, melodic structure of his music, and contemporary special chord. Particular attention is drawn to the use of a modality and tonality of compositional techniques, is closely intertwined with the peculiarities of the musical idea of the author.

This article is the fourth one in the series of «Music Theory and practice of the French Baroque Organ». It analyzes the specifi categories of French Baroque organ performance based on combination of stops («stops-combination’s genre»), a way of touch the keyboard («toucher», «manner» of execution, «articulation»), as well as the unique principle, which is denoted by the term «notes inégales» («unequal notes»). The author traces the evolution of these techniques and their terminology in France during the 17th-18th centuries.

The catalogization of church-chant manuscripts: the problems of description of the Eparchial collectionof the state historical museum (GIM), Moscow

In this article the results of preliminary description of the church-chant manuscripts of the Joseph Volotskiy monastery (15th-17th centuries) are generalized. These manuscripts are collected in the Eparchial collection of State Historical Museum (GIM). The conclusion was made about the type of singing book in this monastery - encyclopedical type, encluding several parts - singing books. The main problem is put on - how to refl the main parts of each manuscript in its catalogue name. The fragments of the preliminary catalogue are given in this article as an example of brief description of manuscripts.

The paper first discusses the piano variations on the theme of the Russian national anthem «God Save the Tsar» by Charles Mayer (1799-1862), the manuscript is kept in MC IRHA SPb. Created in 1834-1835, variations have become one of the first works to the tune of pre-revolutionary Russian anthem. The analysis reveals the variety of the musical text and the composer’s pianistic discoveries.
