An experience of semiotic approach to conducting performance

This article is aimed at drawing the attention of the artistic thinking to the possibility of analysis of the processes taking place in the performance art in respect to semiotics - the science of signs and sign systems. One of the areas of such processes is represented by the art of conducting, which, in the author's opinion, is subject to semantic analysis as a system of sign concepts.

Classification of vocal music by D. Buxtehude. Questions of terminology

In this article the author makes an attempt to resolve questions of terminology of vocal music of the XVII century which concern, in particular, of such basic concepts, as a chorale and a church song. Also the author has presented own classification of compositions of D. Buxtehude which are called cantatas. Proceeding from the principles of the typology accepted in a modern science, this classification includes some levels, covering simple and multiple genres which combine three base forms: a concerto, an aria and a chorale setting.

Compositions by M.I. Glinka on original Italian poetry texts dated by 1828: The particularity of autographs and relation between text and music

The article contains research about less known and less studied compositions (with use of Italian language) by M.I. Glinka, dated by the 1828. The research is focused on particularity of autographs, confirming that the whole block of compositions is indeed a preparation for the creation of an opera. The knowledge about the texts is refined and widened; the author has made a precise translation of the text. The origin and the context of the poetry by P. Metastasio are identified and the analysis of the relation between text and music is made.
