A New Approach to Risk Assessment

In the article the essence of a new approach to risk assessment is disclosed, the aggregate objective evaluation of various risks is formalized. Examples of applying the new approach to risk assessment in optimizing alternatives, VaR calculation, in implementing optimistic and pessimistic scenarios of projects development are given.

Approaches to Risk Assessment of Investment Projects

The article considers various methods of how to take risks into account when evaluating investment projects. A quasi-collective effect arising from the use of the simplest method of accounting for risk in the discount rate is identified. The algorithm is proposed of investment decision-making on the basis of indicators — such as NPV-at-Risk, probability of break-even of the project and the ratio of NPV-at-Risk to the size of investment. Analytical formulas for the case of normally distributed risks are derived, and recommendations on the technique of simulation in general are provided.

Diagnosing Regional Investment Differences

The paper examines methodological problems of diagnosing the regional specificity when forecasting investment development in the Russian Federation. The author defines the methodological aspects of applying structural indicators to the diagnostics of regional factors in investment for strategic planning and management.

Managing the Competitive Price of a New Product

A technique is developed, according to which the price of a new product is set based on the function of price dependence on the quality factor of competitive products, i.e. оn the “red price” line. According to the calculated value of the quality factor of the new product, its competitive price is determined, adjustments are also introduced according in line with the image of product manufacturer.

Modernization of Housing Markets in Depressive Northern Regions

A research concept of housing markets and stages of their study, taking into account the development type of the region, is offered. The concept is approved using the example of housing markets of depressive northern regions of the Russian Far East. The Mythology of Reality: Conservative or Stimulating Monetary Policy

The author proves the advantages of a stimulating monetary policy. He shows that the neutral policy pursued by the Bank of Russia actually conserves the present depressive state of economy and even damages it by curbing economic growth. Positive results can be achieved with the help of a limit-purpose monetary emission aimed, in particular, at replenishing the sinking funds of enterprises, updating the equipment and crediting enterprises at a reduced interest rate, the author holds.

Virtual-Functional Model of Innovations Marketing Management
