Exochorion morphology in some species of the subfamily Tachininae (Diptera, Tachinidae)

Gaponov S.P.

Exochorion morphology of 6 species of Tachininae with membranous eggs were investigated using scanning microscopy. Eggs of Hyalurgus cruciger Ztt. and Tachina magnicornis Ztt. have very thin and transparent chorion without plastronian respirative structures. The plastron structures are reduced; it is connected with the fact that I instar larvae of these flies are hatching from eggs as soon as the eggs are laid. Exochorion of Bactriola antracina Ruchter and Lypha dubia Fll. has polygonal pastron network as well as aeropylar cripts on the anterior egg pole. Perhaps eggs with such structure are preserved in environment for a certain period of time and plastron structure serve for respiration and protection. Eggs of Macroprosopa atrata Fll. are very similar to macrotype tachinid eggs: they have typical polygonal network, plastronian pits, and aeropylar zone on the anterior egg pole. The chorion is divided into ventral and dorsal parts with different structure. Probably, such eggs are attached by females on a host body.
