Specific features of structure and dynamics of Oribatei communities in the course of plant residue decomposition in different biotopes

Schwartz E.S.

The influence of some factors on Oribatei communities in the course of the plant substrate decomposition was studied. The experiments showed that the species composition of these communities was determined by the biotope conditions and little related to the type of plant residues and terms of their input to soils and litter. The seasonal dynamics in the proportion between the Oribatei species and their abundance overlapped the succession one. The succession dynamics manifested itself in the gradual increase in the amount and percentage of pore-dwelling forms, and it was more distinctly expressed in the communities that inhabited the straw residues introduced to the forest litter.
