As a result of studies carried out in summer 1973 in the tundra of South Yamal (67° n. 1), the capacity for autogenetic development was found in 4 out of 6 species of the genus Aedes. The highest percentage of autogenetic specimens was noted in the populations of mass species: A. communis (32%) and A. hexodontus (33%). The females A. communis were highly autogenetic their larval development taking place under the conditions of high temperature and density.
